Full disclosure: NYC has maybe three real castles and I'm padding this list with forts, follies, and one Gilded Age mansion that just really wants to be a castle. As a structural engineer I spend my work week worrying about load paths, so visiting buildings that were designed purely to look cool (zero structural shame, pure vibes) is a nice break. Ranked loosely by how much I'd want to defend each one in a siege.
