My go-to game-day spots

IT guy by day, trivia ringer by night, and I'll find ANY excuse to watch a Cubs or Sox game with a beer in hand. This is the rotation — from Loop dives where I sneak out after work to the Wrigleyville chaos and the quiet Pilsen corners nobody from the North Side knows about. The L gets you to most of these, the rest you just gotta walk.

1The Cubby BearWrigleyville1059 W Addison StChicagoRight across from the Friendly Confines, so yeah it's a tourist trap, but a post-win Cubby Bear is pure CHAOS and I love it
2Sluggers World Class Sports BarWrigleyville3540 N Clark StChicagoBatting cages AND dueling pianos upstairs, where else you gonna hit a double off a 70mph fastball between innings
3First DraftPrinter's Row649 S Clark StChicagoSolid GF options if your trivia team has dietary drama, TVs everywhere you look
4South Branch Tavern & GrilleLoop100 S Wacker DrChicagoRooftop with a river view, perfect for a happy hour that turns into watching the whole game
5Miller's PubLoop134 S Wabash AveChicagoOld school Loop institution, order the ribs and nobody bugs you during the 7th inning
6Haymarket Pub & BreweryWest Loop737 W Randolph StChicagoBrewed on site, dedicated GF fryer, and big screens — hits the spot after a rough trivia loss
7The Cove LoungeHyde Park1750 E 55th StChicagoTotal dive, cheap pitchers, and somehow the best jukebox in the city, worth the trek off the L
