Day trips from the A train

Thirty-odd years of shushing children has taught me that the quietest patrons are usually the ones who got here by public transit and are saving their energy for the walk home. These are the places I send former students (and the occasional bridge partner) when they want a full day out of a single MetroCard swipe, no car required and no apology necessary for bringing a thermos. I have ranked them, as I rank everything, by whether I would go back on a rainy Tuesday.
