Right, pin back your lugholes. Orford Road's the finest stretch of pub real estate in E17 and anyone who tells you different is after an argument I'll happily have at quiz on a Thursday. This is my considered, several-pints-deep ranking of where to watch the footy round our way, complete with the honest truth about the beer, the screens, and whether you'll actually hear the final whistle over the karaoke next door. Big Penny's still the daddy for a proper occasion, mind.
Corner spot on the pedestrianised bit, proper beer garden for the sunny Saturdays, screens tucked in nice so you don't lose your pint to a last-minute winner.
My actual local, this one, and I'll die on that hill too. Quiz night regular, beer garden's the best on the road, and they'll put the match on if you ask nicely.
The daddy. Cavernous beer hall, three big screens, a hundred taps, and enough atmosphere for a cup final even when it's a dreary midweek League Cup tie.
