Look, half the shows set in this city were shot on a soundstage in Burbank with a green screen doing its best Chrysler Building impression, and I can tell, and so can you, and we all just agree not to talk about it. This is a list of the ones that didn't insult my intelligence — the ones where the sidewalk grime looks like my sidewalk, where the apartments are appropriately too small for what the characters claim to earn, and where somebody, at some point, correctly treats the L train as a hostile environment. No Friends apartment nonsense, I've walked past that corner in Greenwich Village a hundred times and every time a tour bus is blocking my view of a wine shop I actually need to get into.

3Law & OrderDun dun. Three decades of the same courthouse steps and somehow it never gets old, unlike most things that have run that long.60 Centre StreetNew York
4Sex and the City (Carrie's stoop)I have opinions about the shoe budget relative to the apartment's square footage, and those opinions are not kind, but here's the thing, the West Village itself never lied.64 Perry StreetNew York

6The Marvelous Mrs. MaiselThe coats alone justify the Emmy count, and somebody on that production clearly understands what a real Upper West Side lobby smells like.2109 BroadwayNew York
