Honestly the amount of times I've had to text someone a link to a study mid-appointment because they didn't believe me about their calf strain. This is the folder. Mostly running injuries, tendon stuff and the odd load-management paper I bang on about at Fallowfield parkrun. Not gospel, but decent evidence and I'll die on most of these hills.

Effect of Eccentric Exercise on Achilles TendinopathyOld paper but honestly still the backbone of how I load Achilles. 2Load Management in Running InjuriesThe acute:chronic ratio one. Reckon half my parkrun mates need this pinned above their bed instead of a race PB chart.Impact of week-to-week changes in training load on injury riskGabbett TJ2016British Journal of Sports MedicineTraining loadReview
Patellofemoral Pain Exercise TherapyRunner's knee, basically. Not glamorous but it's my most-texted link, no contest.Exercise therapy for patellofemoral pain syndromevan der Heijden RA, et al.2015Cochrane Database of Systematic ReviewsAnterior knee painSystematic review
Hamstring Injury Prevention ProgrammeWeekend footballers hate Nordics. I get it, they're brutal, but the numbers don't lie.Effect of the Nordic hamstring exercise on hamstring injury ratesPetersen J, et al.2011American Journal of Sports MedicineHamstring injury preventionRCT

ACL Return to Sport CriteriaTime isn't the only criteria, hop tests matter more. Tell that to someone desperate to get back for a cup final.Return to sport after ACL reconstruction: a systematic reviewArdern CL, et al.2014British Journal of Sports MedicineACL rehabilitationSystematic review
Tendon Loading and Pain ScienceThe continuum model. Explains why pain doesn't always match how knackered the tendon actually is, which confuses everyone at first.Reconciling tendon pain and functionCook JL, Purdam CR2009British Journal of Sports MedicineTendinopathy modelClinical commentary
Shin Splints Risk FactorsCouch to 5k season brings this straight through the door. Footwear and mileage jumps, every time.Risk factors for medial tibial stress syndromeNewman P, et al.2013Sports HealthShin splintsSystematic review

Ankle Sprain Rehab ProtocolBalance work over immobilising it, always. Weekend footballers want a bandage, I want them wobbling on one leg instead.Management of ankle sprains and functional instabilityKerkhoffs GM, et al.2012Cochrane Database of Systematic ReviewsAnkle sprainSystematic review
