These are the bottles I actually reach for when I’m home in Boston, laptop finally shut, League Pass humming in the background and some jazz leaking out of the kitchen speaker. A couple are for slow-reading nights, a couple are for “we won in OT” nights, and one is my emergency “the sprint planning went off the rails” pour. Nothing too show-offy, all very sip-able, and every one has a specific memory attached—usually involving takeout and an overambitious reading goal.

2Four Roses Single Barrel	Single barrel Kentucky straight bourbon	100 proof	Super pretty nose, almost floral; this is my “put a record on, pretend I understand jazz” bottle. Also weirdly great with good dark chocolate.
3Russell’s Reserve 10 Year	Age-stated Kentucky straight bourbon	90 proof	Feels like a warm leather armchair in a glass—vanilla, toffee, a little nuttiness. I reach for this when the Celtics are up 20 and I can finally relax.
4Maker’s Mark 46	Stave-finished wheated bourbon	94 proof	Dessert-adjacent without turning into syrup. Great with late-night banana bread or, more realistically, cold leftover brownie straight from the fridge.
5Buffalo Trace Bourbon	Kentucky straight bourbon	90 proof	The “don’t overthink it” pour. If I’m halfway between Slack pings and a podcast about Roman history, this is what’s in the glass.
6Old Forester 1920 Prohibition Style	High-proof Kentucky straight bourbon	115 proof	Huge, chocolatey, almost smoky; this is my snowstorm pick. One pour, Miles Davis on low, and suddenly I’m fine with the email backlog.
7Eagle Rare 10 Year	10-year Kentucky straight bourbon	90 proof	When I’m trying to impress exactly one friend without making it a whole production, I pull this—balanced, a little fruity, and quietly fancy.
8Woodford Reserve Double Oaked	Double-barreled Kentucky straight bourbon	90.4 proof	Sticky toffee pudding in bourbon form. I keep this for post-dinner pours when everyone’s arguing about books they definitely haven’t finished.
