I’m not a sommelier, I’m the lady on the Q60 trying to remember whether you liked the Rioja or the Riesling last time. These are the bottles I actually buy again, not the aspirational ones I admire in shop windows. They’re the wines I grab after a long day of college-essay drafts, Mets heartbreaks, and museum lines—reliable, a little thoughtful, never too precious. If you’re looking for a starting lineup for a small apartment wine shelf, this is mine (subject to change whenever I discover something weird and wonderful, obviously).

La Vieille Ferme RougeSouthern Rhône blend, FranceWeeknight pasta, takeout pizza, grading marathonsTastes like you spent more than you did—soft red fruit, a little spice, zero drama. My default “I can’t think about this” red.
Dr. Loosen Dr. L RieslingRiesling, Mosel GermanySpicy noodles, awkward family dinners, Sunday afternoonsZippy and just off-dry enough that even my “I don’t like sweet” friends drain the bottle. Great gateway wine for Riesling skeptics.
Cloudy Bay Sauvignon BlancSauvignon Blanc, Marlborough New ZealandFirst warm day of spring, gossip with old friendsLime, gooseberry, and “should we sit outside?” energy. Smells like someone opened all the windows in your brain.
Louis Jadot Beaujolais-VillagesGamay, Beaujolais FranceCasual potlucks, charcuterie, Mets day game (hopeful version)Light, bright, and chillable. When I don’t know what someone drinks, I bring this and call it my diplomatic wine.
