Right, these are the places I actually go for a brew when I'm not on site or stuck at the board game club table trying to plan my next move. No chains with a hundred branches, no syrup-drenched nonsense — just mint coffee, decent seats and staff who don't blank you. Mostly Ancoats and Northern Quarter cos that's my patch, few I'll detour for before a gig at the Ritz.

1Takk	6 Tariff St, Manchester M1 2FF	Scandi vibes, roast their own beans on site. Quiet enough on a weekday to actually get work emails done.
2Federal Cafe & Bar	9 Nicholas Croft, Northern Quarter, Manchester M4 1EY	Gets mobbed at weekends but worth the queue. Brunch and coffee combo is MINT, go early or you'll be waiting ages.
3Idle Hands Coffee	35 Dale St, Manchester M1 2HF	Small but sound. Good if you want a flat white and five minutes peace before the chaos of Oldham Street.
