Mostly fog, car chases, and landmarks I've walked past a hundred times. Compiled this between lab calibrations and dawn patrol at OB — half these flicks shot within a mile of my apartment, so it's hard not to be biased. No Room with a View type stuff here, just the real deal.

SF movies worth the watch — 4 items
Name	Movie	Year	SF Connection	My take
1Vertigo	Vertigo	1958	Fort Point, 900 Lombard Street, Mission Dolores	Hitchcock nailed the fog and the vertiginous hills. Still the gold standard, no debate.
2Dirty Harry	Dirty Harry	1971	City Hall, 555 California Street, Aquatic Park	Callahan's SF is grimier than today's but the attitude checks out. Rewatch every few years.
3Bullitt	Bullitt	1968	Taylor Street, Union Street, Grace Cathedral	That chase scene is basically a physics lecture on suspension. McQueen made every gearhead jealous.
4The Rock	The Rock	1996	Alcatraz Island, Palace of Fine Arts, Pier 39	Dumb fun, VX gas and all. Good excuse to stare at Alcatraz from the ferry again.
