Alright real talk, I'm an HVAC guy, I'm in and out of basements and boiler rooms all day and by the time I clock out I need a beer that don't cost 14 bucks. This the list I text people when they ask where to go before or after a show at Thalia Hall. Mix of dives, one cocktail spot for when somebody's trying to impress a date, and a brewery you drive to on purpose. No cap on any of these, they all real, I been to every one for real.

1Skylark	2149 S Halsted St	Chicago	Cash only, cheap drinks, feels like your buddy's basement. Been going here since before I even had my HVAC license, for real.
2Punch House	1227 W 18th St	Chicago	Basement of Thalia Hall so you can catch a set then roll downstairs for a punch bowl. Good pregame spot, no cap.
3Caminos De Michoacan Bar	1535 W Cullerton St	Chicago	Low key my favorite dive in the whole neighborhood. Cheap drinks, good sound system, nobody bothers you.
4The Alderman	1850 S Throop St	Chicago	Small cocktail spot, only like 16 seats. This the one I take people to when I need to look like I got taste.
