Right, this isn't a place list so no addresses, just bottles I've actually finished (some more than once, purely for research). Ranked on the eye test like a proper scout report: proof, age, price, and whether it survives a Tuesday night after a 0-0 bore draw. Think of it as my starting XI of American whiskey, minus the VAR controversy.

Bourbons que valen la pena el viaje — 8 items
Name	Distillery	Proof	Age Statement	Typical Price (UK)	My take
1Buffalo Trace	Buffalo Trace, Kentucky	90 proof (45% ABV)	No age statement	£30-35	The reliable holding midfielder. Never flashy, never lets you down, always in the squad.
2Maker's Mark	Maker's Mark, Loretto, Kentucky	90 proof (45% ABV)	No age statement	£28-32	Wheated and soft, like a false 9 who'd rather drop deep than bang heads with a centre-back.
3Woodford Reserve	Woodford Reserve, Versailles, Kentucky	90.4 proof (45.2% ABV)	No age statement	£33-38	The one every supermarket stocks. Solid squad player, occasionally starts, never drops a clanger.
4Four Roses Small Batch	Four Roses, Lawrenceburg, Kentucky	90 proof (45% ABV)	No age statement	£30-35	Underrated like a good defensive midfielder — does the unglamorous work that makes everyone else look good.
5Eagle Rare 10 Year	Buffalo Trace, Kentucky	90 proof (45% ABV)	10 years	£40-48	The reliable captain. A decade of minutes and it shows in every sip, calm under pressure.
6Knob Creek 9 Year	Jim Beam (Knob Creek), Clermont, Kentucky	100 proof (50% ABV)	9 years	£38-45	Big, physical, wants a fight. The Roy Keane of bourbons — you respect it even when it hurts.
7Elijah Craig Small Batch	Heaven Hill, Bardstown, Kentucky	94 proof (47% ABV)	No age statement	£32-38	Oaky and sturdy, like a centre-back who's read every scouting report on you already.
8Old Forester 100 Proof	Old Forester, Louisville, Kentucky	100 proof (50% ABV)	No age statement	£30-36	Punches above its price tag, a proper free transfer bargain in the bourbon market.
