These are the cans and taps I keep circling back to when I’m yelling over the game, half-watching a replay, half-arguing about WAR or zone entries. Not a “best of” list, more like the stuff that turns into background radiation in my week — the pint I grab without opening Untappd, the four-pack I end up hauling home on the F train again even though I swore I’d try something new. All NYC-friendly, all easy to stumble into if you haunt bars and bottle shops even a little too much like I do.

Green CityDDH hazy IPAOther Half Brewing7.0%Brooklyn, NYAny bar with a half-decent tap list, or straight from OH when I’m pretending I’ll only buy one four-packYear-round but peaks in sweaty June baseball season$9–$11Peach rings, grapefruit, soft tropical candy, creamy bodyMy default “I don’t wanna read the whole menu” move, hazy enough to feel special but not so boozy it ruins extra innings.
Brooklyn LagerAmerican amber lagerBrooklyn Brewery5.2%Brooklyn, NYDivey spots where the choices are macros plus this, and I still feel like I’m making a good life decisionAll year, clutch in fall with playoff baseball$7–$9Toasty caramel, light grapefruit hop bite, super clean finishThe wardrobe basic of NYC beer, never the flashiest thing on but it always fits and doesn’t talk back.
VlietPilsnerThrees Brewing5.2%Brooklyn, NYWhen the list is all hazies and pastry bombs and I just want one crispy thing I can drink for nine inningsSpring through late summer, porch mandatory if available$8–$10Snappy bitterness, floral, a little herbal, super crispThis is the beer I hand to friends who say they’re “not into craft beer” and then suddenly they are, it’s stupidly dependable.
Lambo DoorDouble hazy IPAGrimm Artisanal Ales8.0%Brooklyn, NYWhen the game’s already lost and I’m just here to make the night interestingCold nights, hoodie weather, late starts on the West Coast$10–$12Juicy citrus, stone fruit, soft sweetness, sneaky bitternessOne of those beers where you blink and your takes get way hotter, like switching from group chat to full podcast mode mid-pint.
ResinDouble IPASixpoint Brewery9.1%Brooklyn, NYCouch, box score up, pretending I’m just “sampling” before realizing the can is mysteriously emptyWinter hibernation and ugly-weather Sundays$9–$11 (or cheaper by the can at the bodega)Pine, dank resin, caramel malt, big bitternessTastes like old-school IPA internet arguments, bitter and loud and kind of perfect when you’re in the mood for it.
OscillationDouble IPA seriesFinback BreweryAround 8.4% (varies by batch)Queens, NYAny time I see an Oscillation number I haven’t had, instant impulse buy, research budget blownYear-round rotation, leans winter for me$10–$12, cans a bit less per pourHops hopscotch between batches, usually big citrus, tropical, soft bitternessFeels like reading a new paper from the same nerdy authors every time — same brain, different experiment, I’m in for all of it.
Even More JesusImperial stoutEvil Twin Brewing12–13% depending on releaseBrooklyn, NY (NYC-based gypsy turned brick-and-mortar)Late-night winter move when dessert sounds good but chewing doesn’tDeep winter, snow days, or when the Knicks blow a 20-point leadUsually by the snifter, $11–$14Thick, chocolate, dark fruit, coffee, sweet but intenseThis is a slow-sip beer that turns your phone face down, one of those “I’m having A Beer, capital B” situations that ends the night on purpose.
