These are the funds I keep coming back to when my brain wants something meatier than another mid-table rugby replay but not quite as dense as IFRS 9. It’s a mix of big, boring core holdings and a few more colourful satellites that make the spreadsheets misbehave just enough to stay interesting. None of this is advice, obviously; it’s just what I like to read about over a sandwich and a smuggled paperback on Baggot Street.

Vanguard FTSE All-World UCITS ETF (VWRL)Global equity ETF core holdingIreland (Dublin) UCITSLarge and mid-cap equities across developed and emerging markets0.22% per yearHigh; full equity beta with broad diversification smoothing single-country dramaMy default answer to “what do I do with this ISA-sized lump I don’t need for ages?” Reads like a very long, very dull but reassuringly global novel.
IShares Core MSCI World UCITS ETF (EUNL)Developed markets equity ETFIreland (Dublin) UCITSLarge and mid-cap developed market equities, heavily US tilted0.20% per yearHigh; classic equity swings, but diversified across sectors and countriesIf VWRL is the global epic, this is the slightly more US-centric spin-off series. Easy to understand, easy to own, and boring in exactly the way a core holding should be.
Dimensional Global Core Equity FundFactor-tilted global equity mutual fundIreland (Dublin) UCITSGlobal equities with tilts to smaller, cheaper, and more profitable companiesAround 0.35%–0.45%, depending on share classHigh; equity-like with extra factor noise layered on topFor days when I want my efficient-market beliefs tested. Feels like reading a dense academic paper that somehow also has a decent plot twist.
Irish Life Indexed Consensus FundMulti-asset index-based managed fundIreland (Dublin)Blend of global equities, bonds, property and cash, tracking Irish Life’s consensus mixTypically around 0.50%–1.00% depending on wrapperMedium; diversified mix dampens the worst of the market tantrumsThe closest thing in Ireland to a “set-and-forget” house blend. Like a pub’s own stout: not always exciting, but reliably fine and always on tap.
