Twelve shows that got the city right, or at least got it interesting. Ranked less on plot than on whether the skyline shots feel earned. Ends, as most good arguments do, with a tie for last place I refuse to break.

Chicago auf dem Bildschirm — 10 items
Name	Series	Network	My take
1Chicago Fire	Chicago Fire	NBC	The one that started the whole One Chicago thing. Comfort food television, best watched on a Wednesday.
2Chicago P.D.	Chicago P.D.	NBC	Grittier cousin of Fire. Good for the district-station politics, less good for my blood pressure.
3Chicago Med	Chicago Med	NBC	Rounds out the trilogy. Every crossover week I clear my calendar like it's a Cubs doubleheader.
4The Bear	The Bear	FX on Hulu	Stressful in the way a good novel is stressful. The Italian beef scenes alone justify the subscription.
5Shameless	Shameless	Showtime	South Side chaos played for both laughs and gut-punches. Eleven seasons is a long inning, but they stuck the landing.
6The Chi	The Chi	Showtime	Quietly one of the better ensemble casts on television. Doesn't get talked about enough at dinner parties.
7Prison Break	Prison Break	Fox	Preposterous plotting, Chicago backdrop, and I watched every twist anyway. Some books you finish just to see how absurd it gets.
8ER	ER	NBC	The original Chicago hospital show and still the standard the newer ones get measured against.
9Early Edition	Early Edition	CBS	A man gets tomorrow's paper today and spends the episode running around downtown fixing things. Charmingly dated, still fun.
10Boss	Boss	Starz	A fictional mayor drama that understood City Hall's rhythms better than most. Cancelled too soon, like a good pitcher pulled in the sixth.
