Little running list of places I end up when there’s a game on and I really should be doing readings. Bit of everything in here: actual temples of football, cricket churches, and pubs where the TV count is frankly worrying. If you’re bouncing round town with a Travelcard and poor impulse control, this is basically my brain on a Saturday tbh.

Emirates StadiumFootball stadiumHornsey Road, London N7 7AJLondonArsenal (Piccadilly)Feels like walking into a spaceship that only plays slick passing and drama. Atmosphere’s miles better since everyone stopped sulking about leaving Highbury, and there’s something very student-loan-irresponsible about grabbing a pint here midweek instead
Tottenham Hotspur StadiumFootball & NFL stadium782 High Road, London N17 0BXLondonWhite Hart Lane (Overground)Ridiculous bit of engineering – like someone crossed a stadium with a shopping centre and then added beer taps everywhere. Proper loud for league games, and on NFL weekends it turns into mini‑America with jerseys, wings and people trying to explain downs
Wembley StadiumNational stadiumWembley Stadium, Olympic Way, Wembley HA9 0WSLondonWembley Park (Jubilee / Metropolitan)Big national‑feel vibes: England games, cup finals, random mega concerts, the lot. The walk up Olympic Way when it’s heaving is unreal, even if the food prices feel like an economics case study in suffering.
Lord’s Cricket GroundCricket groundSt John’s Wood Road, London NW8 8QNLondonSt John’s Wood (Jubilee)Posh on paper, but once you’re actually in the stands with a plastic pint and someone explaining field settings, it’s just very chill. Perfect exam‑season escape: five hours of sunshine and gentle applause instead of revising elasticity.
