Charting between scribe shifts and pathophys exams so consider this list HRV-optimized. These are the talks I keep sending my study group at 2am instead of sleeping, ranked by how hard they rearranged my brain. Niners still owe me a Super Bowl but at least Sapolsky owes me nothing, dude just gives it away free.

Name	Talk	Speaker	Why
Your body language may shape who you are	Your body language may shape who you are	Amy Cuddy	Power-posed in the SFGH call room before a suture check-off, felt like I was 4th and 1 going for it. Worked, allegedly.
The riddle of experience vs. memory	The riddle of experience vs. memory	Daniel Kahneman	Explains why a brutal 14-hour scribe shift feels fine in the retelling. Same energy as Niners fans remembering '84 and ignoring 2020.
Why we get mad and why it matters	Why we get mad and why it matters	Ryan Martin	Diagnosed myself mid-talk after a doc snapped at me for mischarting a vital. Anger has a function apparently, still didn't feel great.
The mind, revealed by illness	The mind, revealed by illness	Jill Bolte Taylor	A neuroanatomist narrating her own stroke live in the ED basically wrote my personal statement for me. Watched it three times, cried twice.
Why is it so hard to talk about mental illness?	Why is it so hard to talk about mental illness?	Sangu Delle	Played this for my scribe cohort after a rough psych consult night. Nobody said anything after, which is kind of the point.
How to make stress your friend	How to make stress your friend	Kelly McGonigal	Reframed my cortisol spike before the MCAT retake as 'my body helping me.' Body was lying but the pep talk got me through.
The transformative power of classical music	The transformative power of classical music	Benjamin Zander	Zero medical relevance, pure joy reset after a code in the ED. Sometimes you need a guy losing it over a Chopin prelude.
How great leaders inspire action	How great leaders inspire action	Simon Sinek	Attending physician quoted the golden circle unprompted during rounds and I had to pretend I hadn't already watched it twice.
The puzzle of motivation	The puzzle of motivation	Dan Pink	Explains why I'll grind organic chem for free but need actual cash to fold laundry. Autonomy, mastery, purpose, or something, I was half asleep.
The danger of a single story	The danger of a single story	Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie	Rewired how I take patient histories in triage. People are not their chief complaint, same way I'm not just my missed free throws.
