6Where Is the Land of Opportunity? The Geography of Intergenerational Mobility in the United States (Chetty et al., 2014)	How a kid’s zip code shapes their odds of moving up the income ladder.	Big reality check. Turns ‘work hard and you’ll make it’ into ‘also depends where you grow up.’ Makes any city skyline feel like a probability map.
7Consumer City (Glaeser, Kolko & Saiz, 2001)	Cities as places people choose for lifestyle and services, not just jobs.	Explains why Miami feels like a playground plus office park. Good lens for reading neighborhoods—why some blocks pop off and others stay ghosted.
