My degree says “future scientist” but my camera roll says “chronically at the match or somewhere with a big screen”. If I’m not trekking up to the Etihad, I’m kicking a ball round Platt Fields, pretending I’m a table tennis prodigy in a basement bar, or stress-screaming at England in a warehouse full of strangers. Here’s the chaotic little circuit of places that keep me skint, sweaty and absolutely mad for it – all properly sound spots if you live anywhere near Fallowfield and care more about added time than bedtime.

3National Football Museum	Football museum	Urbis Building, Cathedral Gardens, Todd Street, Manchester M4 3BG	Manchester	Shiny glass spaceship full of old boots, daft kits and proper nostalgia	Perfect rainy-day mission: go into town, smash a brew, then lose three hours reliving tournaments from before you were born and pretending you’ve got a first touch.
4Armitage Sports Centre	Uni sports hub	The Armitage Sports Centre, Moseley Road, Fallowfield, Manchester M14 6PA	Manchester	Student five-a-side chaos, floodlit 3G, random intramural leagues everywhere	If you live in Fallowfield you basically end up here whether you meant to or not – one minute it’s a casual kickabout, next minute you’ve joined a Wednesday night league and pulled a hammy.
