Radiographer by day, gin botherer by night. Most Fridays I leg it out of work, grab a quick bowl of soup if it’s grim out, then disappear into one of these spots until it’s time to stumble to a gig in the Northern Quarter or sprint for the last train home. This is my running list of places that do gin properly – not just sticking a random sprig of rosemary in supermarket tonic and calling it ‘artisanal’. Some are full-on distilleries, some are cosy basements, some involve getting absolutely soaked walking over a moor in Macclesfield, but every single one has poured me something that made me think, ‘yeah, that’s proper mint.’
