Ella Toone’s all over my feed again after that late Lionesses call-up for the World Cup play-off against Greece, jumping in when Lucy Bronze dropped out – proper main character energy, innit. This is my little shortlist of ballers I always clock with her on the pitch or in projects, the ones who make me spill my ramen shouting at the telly on a random weeknight.

Name	Sport	Main link to Ella	Club / Team	My take
1Ella Toone	Football	The gaffer of her own story – Manchester United and England attacking mid, fresh back in the Lionesses squad for the Greece play-off.	Manchester United Women; England Lionesses	North-west girl but feels like one of us, bruv – vibes player, clutch goals, and somehow still sounds like your mate on the bus home.
2Alessia Russo	Football	Ex-United teammate and Lionesses strike partner, on the end of plenty Toone through-balls.	Arsenal Women; England Lionesses	Toone pinging passes, Russo finishing them at the Emirates – that link-up lives RENT FREE in my head.
3Lauren James	Football	Lionesses teammate; they’ve shared attacking duty for England at Euros and World Cups.	Chelsea Women; England Lionesses	When LJ’s gliding in from the wing and Toone’s ghosting into space, defenders look absolutely FINISHED.
