When my brain is fried from mechanisms and my Anki queue looks like a final boss fight, I triage my stress with movies instead of IV caffeine. This is my lowkey chaotic, very biased rotation: some Miami-core chaos, some artsy A24, and of course a Star Wars infusion to keep the Force balanced. No cap, these are the films that resuscitate my attention span between orgo problem sets.

Moonlight2016DramaQuiet, intimate, hits like a delayed-release emotional gut punchFeels like someone put Miami on a slide, stained it, and made me look under a microscope for two hours—slow, precise, and devastating in the best way.Medium – too emotionally dense for weekly rounds, but essential every so often.
Bad Boys1995Action comedy’90s Miami chaos with explosions, banter, and zero concern for realismThis is the cinematic equivalent of slamming cafecito on an empty stomach: questionable for your health, undeniably fun.High – perfect background noise while half-studying flashcards.
Scarface1983Crime dramaOvercaffeinated, operatic, neon-drenched morality spiralRequired Miami viewing but also a case study in what happens when someone fails every impulse-control exam, no cap.Medium – long runtime, more of a once-a-semester epic than a weekly pull.
Pain & Gain2013Dark comedy crimeProtein powder, bad decisions, and Florida Man energy condensed into cinemaFeels like the entire plot got a pre-workout overdose—ethics completely tanked, but it’s a wild specimen of Miami absurdity.Medium-high – especially when you want to feel like your own life choices are actually super reasonable.
