Twenty years of writing up other people's fender benders leaves a man needing one fixed point in the week. Mine is a stool, a cup, and whatever paperback I'm not finishing. These are the places that pour it right and leave me alone to read.

Sunset counter coffee — 3 items
Name	Address	My take
1Java Beach Cafe	1396 La Playa St, San Francisco, CA 94122	Outdoor seating that assumes optimism about San Francisco weather. I keep a jacket in the car anyway.
2Andytown Coffee Roasters (Taraval St)	3629 Taraval St, San Francisco, CA 94116	Closer to the water, same crowd in windbreakers pretending it's warmer than it is.
3Home Coffee Roasters (Sunset)	1222 Noriega St, San Francisco, CA 94122	Roasts on site, which means it smells better than most places I get called out to inspect.
