Nine places I'd happily lose a Saturday to, rated the way I rate everything else in life: bluntly, out of ten, with a red in hand by the final whistle. Some of these are home patch, some mean changing twice at Piccadilly, but they've all earned the fare.

2Etihad Stadium	Etihad Campus, Ashton New Road	Manchester	Football	Modern comfort and a decent pint beforehand	Metrolink to Etihad Campus stop	Built for a Commonwealth Games, now it just hosts trophies. Legroom's better than Old Trafford's, don't tell anyone I said that.	7
3Emirates Old Trafford	Talbot Road, Stretford	Manchester	Cricket	A full day out with a scorecard and a flask	Metrolink Altrincham line, alight Old Trafford	Sat here through enough rain delays to write a book on them. Still my favourite place to watch nothing happen slowly.	8
