Right, this is less a reading list and more what's survived contact with my bedside locker — half the collection smells of liniment and the other half has a match ticket stuck in as a bookmark. Camogie memoirs for when the hamstring's wrecked and I can't be running anywhere, big meaty Irish history for the long bus to an away match, and a few that just gave me the same buzz as a last-minute point. No bodice-rippers, no self-help, I get enough of that lecturing fellas about their rehab.

1The Grass CeilingThe Grass CeilingEimear RyanMemoirRead this one in a weekend and nodded along like a gobdaw on the sideline — the bit about never wringing the last drop out of your playing days hit like a sliotar to the shin.
2We Don't Know OurselvesWe Don't Know OurselvesFintan O'TooleHistory/MemoirThick as a physio textbook and twice as useful for understanding why your granny still won't talk about the Church. Dip in and out, no rush.
3Small Things Like TheseSmall Things Like TheseClaire KeeganNovelShort enough to finish before a match starts, sharp enough to stay with you well after the final whistle. Keegan doesn't waste a word, bit like a good team talk.
