Eight stops, mostly within stumbling distance of Rye Lane, kept to a strict standard: good coffee, somewhere to actually sit, and no music that makes you want to leave. Compiled over several years of commuting past most of them. Judged on coffee, not on the sourdough, though the sourdough helps.

2Old Spike Roastery	54 Peckham Rye, London SE15 4JR	London	Peckham Rye	Filter, whatever's on rotation	The beans change seasonally, the quality doesn't. Also funds something useful, which makes the extra fifty pence feel less like a tax.
3Coal Rooms	11a Station Way, London SE15 4RX	London	Peckham Rye	Espresso, standing at the counter	Converted ticket office, still smells faintly of the station. Good for a fast coffee before the train, less good if you want to linger.
4Rons	133 Rye Lane, London SE15 4BQ	London	Peckham	Flat white, cinnamon roll	Everything plant-based, nobody mentions it unprompted. Inside Holdron's Arcade, which is itself worth the detour.
