Bookshops Worth The Detour

A running list I keep taped inside my studio notebook, scribbled between gallery condition reports and pottery sale flyers. These are the shops I reroute my G train transfers for \u2014 the ones with good light on the shelves, a chair nobody rushes you out of, and staff who notice when you're circling the poetry section twice. Mostly Brooklyn, because that's my orbit, with a couple of Manhattan stops worth the extra swipe. Updated whenever I find a new quietly excellent corner.
