Half my life's spent coiling XLRs in these rooms Chorlton's home but the city centre's where the work is this is every venue that'll still get a proper mix out of a dodgy desk and a support act worth turning up early for no ranking just the ones I trust when the soundcheck's gone sideways

3Night & Day Café	Night & Day Café	26 Oldham Street	Manchester	Scruffy round the edges always will be but the room breathes right rap jazz bluegrass doesn't matter it sits well
4Castle Hotel	Castle Hotel	66 Oldham Street	Manchester	Back room's deceptively live sounding tiled walls do something funny to the snare but I've made peace with it
5Matt & Phreds Jazz Club	Matt & Phreds Jazz Club	64 Tib Street	Manchester	Jazz heads keep this one quiet on purpose I reckon low ceiling warm sound bring your patience for the double bass solos
6The Deaf Institute	The Deaf Institute	135 Grosvenor Street	Manchester	Balcony's a nightmare for cable runs but the room rewards you for the hassle proper atmosphere once it's rammed
7YES	YES	38 Charles Street	Manchester	Basement room's the one everyone talks about low and sweaty sound travels different down there in a good way
8The Soup Kitchen	The Soup Kitchen	31-33 Spear Street	Manchester	Basement's compact so you've got to be precise with levels no room for sloppy gain staging down there
