Physio by day, pint-handler by night, and in between I'm dodging past the Luas to get a look at whatever's hanging on a gallery wall. Stoneybatter keeps me grounded but these are the spots that pull me across the Liffey, Malbec in hand if I can manage it. Think of this as my own panel of selectors, picking the best fifteen of Dublin's art scene the way you'd pick a Sunday team - some are steady county stalwarts, others are the flashy corner-forward you didn't see coming. That's the truth of it now.

Hugh Lane GalleryCharlemont House, Parnell Square North, Dublin 1, D01 F2X9DublinFrancis Bacon's actual studio rebuilt brick by brick in there - like watching a legend's gear bag still packed after the final whistle. Currently closed for refurb but still tops my list.
Irish Museum of Modern ArtRoyal Hospital, Military Road, Kilmainham, Dublin 8, D08 FW31DublinThe grounds alone are worth the trip, like strolling around Croke Park an hour before throw-in. Give yourself the whole afternoon, that's the truth of it now.
National Gallery of IrelandMerrion Square West, Dublin 2, D02 K303DublinFree in the door and still hits like a last-minute winner. The Yeats collection alone will have you standing still for twenty minutes.
Temple Bar Gallery + Studios5-9 Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02 AC84DublinReal working studios upstairs, gallery below, and it shows - raw and current like a team still finding its feet but full of promise.
The Doorway Gallery24 South Frederick Street, Dublin 2, D02 XP30DublinSmall, welcoming, a bit like a club house after training - no pressure to know your stuff, just enjoy the art on the walls.
