A working list of boozers I actually rate, not the ones that look good on Instagram. Scored out of ten like everything else in my life. Mostly Walthamstow because why would I go anywhere else, but a few City and West End spots sneak in when the job or a theatre preview drags me out that way.

The Castle15 Orford Road, LondonLondonGastropub£6Sister pub to the Nags Head down the road. Good Sunday roast if you time it right after the market.7/10
Wild Card Brewery Tap RoomArena, Priory Court, Clarendon Road, LondonLondonBrewery taproom£6.50Local brewery doing it properly. Decent for a Saturday after the market stalls, bit of a trek inside the retail park though.8/10
Rough Trade East BarOld Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, LondonLondonRecord shop bar£6Not strictly a bar but they pull a pint and there's always something decent on the speakers. Different crowd to what I'm used to.6/10
The Cheshire Cheese145 Fleet Street, LondonLondonHistoric pub£6.80Properly old boozer near the office. Low ceilings, dark corners, feels like drinking in a museum. Good for a quiet one after a late shift.7/10
The Blackbird209 Earls Court Road, LondonLondonPub—Ended up here before a West End preview once, stayed longer than planned. Big and a bit touristy but does the trick.6/10
The Coach and Horses29 Greek Street, LondonLondonPub£6.20Soho classic, always rammed before curtain-up. Staff don't mess about, which I like.7/10
The Dove19 Upper Mall, LondonLondonRiverside pub£6.50Took the five-a-side lads here once after a tournament out west. Terrace by the river, hard to beat on a clear evening.9/10
The Rose and Crown53 Hoe Street, LondonLondonPub£5.80Solid no-nonsense boozer on Hoe Street. Football's always on, nobody bothers you, exactly what you want midweek.7/10
