1David ZwirnerChelsea, 537 W 20th StMassive white box energy. Like mixing on a SSL console — everything hits clean and huge.
2Pace GalleryChelsea, 540 W 25th StEight floors of it. Go early, the elevator line gets real on weekends.
3GagosianChelsea, 555 W 24th StBlue-chip and loud about it. Feels like walking into a mastered-too-hot track, in a good way.
4Hauser & WirthChelsea, 542 W 22nd StSelldorf-designed space, feels like a church for sculpture. Quiet in there, good thinking spot.
5303 GalleryChelsea, 555 W 21st StSmaller, scrappier roster. Reminds me of a good indie label catalog, not trying to be everything.
6Lisson GalleryChelsea, 504 W 24th StClean, minimal hang. Good palate cleanser gallery between the big boxes.
7Matthew Marks GalleryChelsea, 522 W 22nd StOG Chelsea anchor. Been going since before I had a studio key of my own.
8The Drawing CenterSoHo, 35 Wooster StOnly drawings, no excuses. Feels like a stripped-back demo tape, just the bones.
9The Brooklyn MuseumProspect Heights, 200 Eastern Pkwy, BrooklynTechnically a museum not a gallery but it's a straight shot from Gowanus, counts in my book.
10Smack MellonDumbo, Brooklyn, 92 Plymouth StRaw industrial space, basically a warehouse like mine. Local artists, no pretense, love it.
