The Late Late Show is RT\u00c9's Friday night institution, currently fronted by Patrick Kielty and this week lining up Michelle O'Neill, Deirdre O'Kane, Baz Ashmawy, Mario Rosenstock and Donegal singer Muireann Bradley \u2014 which got me thinking about the episodes and eras that actually stuck with me. I'm not ranking the whole sixty-odd year history here (that's a PhD, not a list), just the ones I still bring up in the pub when someone says the show's gone soft. Mix of old Gay Byrne stuff my da made me watch, the Tubridy years, and whatever Kielty's doing now that's actually landing.

Name	Era/Host	Standout Guest	Why It Stuck	Where I Watched It	My take
1The Late Late Toy Show 2023	Patrick Kielty	The usual gang of kid reviewers	Kielty's first Toy Show, nerves and all	Mam's gaff, obligatory	Still not Tubridy but he's grown into it, grudging respect
2Gay Byrne's final Late Late Show	Gay Byrne	U2	End of an era, the whole country tuned in	Too young, saw the clips since	The benchmark everyone after him got measured against, fairly or not
3Ryan Tubridy interviews Saoirse Ronan	Ryan Tubridy	Saoirse Ronan	Proper Hollywood glamour landing on an Irish couch	Snug in town, half-watching	Tubridy actually does his homework on film guests, fair play
