Not a ranking, more like a scatter plot of my liquor cabinet. Proof, price, and how it actually made me feel on a Tuesday don't always correlate \u2014 kind of like block width and how alive a street feels. Bought most of these at shops within a fifteen minute walk of my apartment, because sample size matters and so does not taking the subway for whiskey. Drink responsibly, or at least thoughtfully.

3Eagle Rare 10 Year	90	$40\u2013$50	Astor Wines & Spirits, 399 Lafayette St	Allocated but not impossible if you're polite to the person behind the counter. Worth the small talk.
4Woodford Reserve	90.4	$34\u2013$40	Union Square Wines & Spirits, 33 Union Square W	Reliable middle-density pour. Not thrilling, not disappointing, just consistently there like a good bus route.
5Elijah Craig Small Batch	94	$28\u2013$33	Frankly Wines, 41 Murray St	The value pick I recommend to anyone who says they 'don't really like bourbon.' Usually ends the conversation.
6Old Forester 100 Proof	100	$26\u2013$31	Warehouse Wines & Spirits, 735 Broadway	Cinnamon and a little bit of a shove. I drink this after reading a bad public comment thread.
7Maker's Mark	90	$27\u2013$32	Discovery Wines, 1541 Broadway	Soft and a little sweet, like a plaza that's trying too hard to be pleasant. Still works.
8Old Grand-Dad 114	114	$25\u2013$30	Frankly Wines, 41 Murray St	High proof, low price, zero patience for small talk. Best poured after a community board meeting runs long.
9Angel's Envy	86.6	$48\u2013$55	Union Square Wines & Spirits, 33 Union Square W	Port barrel finish, so it drinks a little like dessert. My one nod to indulgence on the list.
