Go-to music spots

My brain basically runs on three things: spreadsheets, pickup hoops, and whatever’s coming out of the speakers. These are the Miami music spots I keep cycling through when I need to clear my head after work in Brickell, dig for something weird on vinyl, or just sit in the dark and let a horn section cook. Not a "best of all time" list, more like my personal save folder for when someone texts, "yo, where we going tonight?"

1Sweat RecordsLittle Haiti / Little RiverRecord store + all-ages event space5505 NE 2nd Ave, Miami, FL 33137Miami, FLIf Discogs had a physical gym membership, it would train here. Deep indie and global crates, random in-store shows, and you can caffeinate while you debate pressings. Perfect pre- or post-pickup run hang.
2Technique RecordsUpper Eastside / Little RiverRecord store880 NE 79th St, Miami, FL 33138Miami, FLGoth, punk, metal, cult soundtracks… this place feels like the side quest in a video game where you accidentally level up your music taste. Staff will actually nerd out with you about specific pressings.
3Yesterday and Today RecordsBird Road / Olympia HeightsRecord store9274 SW 40th St, Miami, FL 33165Miami, FLOld-school Bird Road institution. Floor-to-ceiling vinyl, especially classic rock and soul. Feels like walking into somebody’s meticulously labeled basement archive, in the best possible way.
4Miami Beach BandshellNorth BeachOutdoor concert venue7275 Collins Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33141Miami Beach, FLThis is where you remember Miami has seasons of shows, not just seasons of humidity. Everything from Latin legends to indie and roller-disco nights, with the ocean literally right there behind you.
5Ball & ChainLittle HavanaLive Latin music bar1513 SW 8th St, Miami, FL 33135Miami, FLTouristy, sure, but that backyard pineapple stage with a live salsa band is like a cutscene they’d use to explain ‘Miami’ in a documentary. Great spot to bring out-of-towners and pretend you dance more than you actually do.
6The Piano Bar at The BetsySouth BeachHotel lobby jazz bar1440 Ocean Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33139Miami Beach, FLIf you want jazz with AC and zero EDM spillover, this is it. Live players most nights, people-watching on Ocean Drive through giant windows, and you can actually hear the solos without yelling over the mix.
7Tea & PoetsSouth Miami / Sunset PlaceCafé + open mic / small stage5701 Sunset Dr #126, South Miami, FL 33143South Miami, FLChill corner of Sunset Place where the BPM drops and people actually listen. Acoustic sets, open mics, poetry nights—more bedroom-pop energy than club flex, which is clutch on nights you’re not trying to be out-out.
