This is the mental map I run through when a cousin texts at 11 p.m. from the ER waiting room or a neighbor corners me at Sedano’s asking where to take Abuela for her heart, just the places in our orbit that consistently match the data with the feeling that someone actually sees the patient, not every building with a CT scanner in Miami-Dade but the ones I’d quietly choose for my own people when the labs start looking weird.
