Rotating list of shows that got the New York of it all right (or hilariously wrong). I watch these between rewatches of my own unfinished student film, usually on the L train with headphones dying at 40%. Rating based on vibes, subway realism, and whether I'd actually hang out with these people.

1Succession	Succession	Manhattan, corporate towers and townhouses	Rich people yelling in helicopters. I have never related less and enjoyed more. The Waystar building energy is IMMACULATE.
2Girls	Girls	Greenpoint and Bushwick, Brooklyn	Painfully accurate about broke twenty-somethings pretending they have it figured out. I've had that exact apartment argument. Multiple times.
3Broad City	Broad City	Astoria and downtown Manhattan	The only show that gets how much of your day is just LOGISTICS. Getting a couch up a stairwell should be a genre.
4Seinfeld	Seinfeld	Upper West Side	The blueprint. Every diner conversation I've ever had is a Seinfeld bit I didn't write fast enough.
5Master of None	Master of None	Lower East Side and beyond	Made me want a food-obsessed montage life. Also made me cry about pasta once. No regrets.
6Sex and the City	Sex and the City	Upper East Side and downtown	The stoop is a whole character. I have stood outside that brownstone like a tourist and I'm not sorry.
7The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel	The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel	Upper West Side, 1950s-60s	Walks so fast through so many sets I get tired just watching. The Gaslight scenes live in my head rent free.
8Daredevil	Daredevil	Hell's Kitchen	Gritty in a way that makes my actual commute feel like a superhero origin story. Rooftops look great, subway still smells the same.
