A working list, not a listicle — these are the spaces I actually loop back to between studio-visit emails and pretending I understand 'institutional critique.' Gowanus keeps me humble (reclaimed canvas does not make good shelving, it turns out), so half these picks are Brooklyn and half are the Chelsea mega-spaces I side-eye but still visit on my day off. No ranking. I contain multitudes and also a lot of paint-stained tote bags.
