Vanessa Williams is on telly tonight sitting for Portrait Artist of the Year, which feels like as good an excuse as any to jot down her current orbit anyway….([tvguide.co.uk](https://www.tvguide.co.uk/schedule/60c21c30-436b-5013-af91-c8fe46ffa065/portrait-artist-of-the-year-2026?utm_source=openai))

Name	Who	Connection	My take
1Vanessa Williams	Actor, singer, ex–Miss America, now West End and TV regular.	Tonight’s celebrity sitter on Portrait Artist of the Year and lately London-based thanks to The Devil Wears Prada musical.	Feels like the overachieving cousin of pop culture who quietly moved to London and took over the place.
2Jonathan Yeo	High-end portrait painter who has had half of Westminster in his studio.	New head judge sizing up the paintings of Vanessa and the other sitters this series.	Man who has stared at so many famous faces he probably sees cheekbones when he closes his eyes.
3Stephen Mangan	Actor turned professional presenter of arty panic on TV.	Hosts the portrait competition where Vanessa is one of the big-ticket sitters.	Looks like he’d offer you a cup of tea right before telling you your painting has no soul.
4Eva Langret	Frieze director and contemporary art gatekeeper.	On the new judging panel watching how artists handle painting Vanessa.	The person you silently hope nods at your work while pretending you’re not watching.
