Lab-based in Salford, spreadsheet-based everywhere else, so this list happened somewhere between a centrifuge run and a bus delay. Manchester's medical history is stacked deeper than a decent Sunday league table \u2014 splitting the atom, storing the first computer program, keeping bits of everyone in jars. None of it changes my football results. Started as a spreadsheet, ended up a list, same as everything.

Science and Industry MuseumLiverpool Road, Manchester M3 4FPManchesterHistory of science, industry, medicine exhibitsFree entry, which is the only thing in Manchester that's still free. Worth it for the old electric-shock kit alone.
John Rylands Library150 Deansgate, Manchester M3 3EHManchesterMedical manuscripts, anatomy texts archiveGothic enough to make a lab coat feel underdressed. Go for the manuscripts, stay because the toilets are genuinely historic.
Manchester MuseumThe University of Manchester, Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9PLManchesterNatural history, anatomy, human biology collections4.5 million objects and I still spend most of it staring at the frogs in the Vivarium. Priorities.
Manchester Royal InfirmaryOxford Road, Manchester M13 9WLManchesterTeaching hospital, clinical training siteWhere half the city's junior doctors learn to run on no sleep and vending machine coffee. Solid infrastructure, grim car park.
The Christie550 Wilmslow Road, Manchester M20 4BXManchesterCancer treatment and researchOne of the biggest cancer centres in Europe, tucked away past Withington like it's no big deal. It absolutely is.
Salford Royal HospitalStott Lane, Salford M6 8HDSalfordAcute hospital, neuroscience centreMy actual manor. Walk past it most weeks, still haven't been inside as a patient, touch wood.
Whitworth ParkDenmark Road, Manchester M14 5RRManchesterGreen space near medical campus, historic links to public health movementSits right by the hospitals, built partly on the old fresh-air-and-recovery logic. Decent spot for lunch between shifts.
Manchester Museum of Medicine and Health archiveStopford Building, Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9PTManchesterHistory of medical practice in ManchesterSmall, specialist, not exactly a tourist trap. Good if you like your history with a hint of formaldehyde.
