Shows worth the Overground trip

Sketchbook casualties of my lunch breaks, honestly — exhibitions I'm either already circling in my diary or ones I've shoved the gallery assistant discount card toward my own ribs for. Half are five minutes from the gallery, half need the full Overground-and-a-flat-white pilgrimage into town, but worth it, I promise. Currently reading something about Agnes Martin which is doing unhelpful things to my own painting, more on that another time.

1Cecilia Vicuña: Living ThreadsCecilia Vicuña: Living ThreadsWhitechapel Gallery, 77-82 Whitechapel High Street, London E1 7QXTextiles and threads as a whole language — honestly want to sketch every knot in this one, bring a jumper, it's a big echoey space
2The 90s: Art and FashionThe 90s: Art and FashionTate Britain, Millbank, London SW1P 4RGEqual parts nostalgia and research for my own collage work, Edward Enninful curating this is honestly reason enough
3Salman Toor: Someone Like YouSalman Toor: Someone Like YouThe Courtauld Gallery, Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 0RNSoft, queer, a bit melancholy — the kind of show that makes me want to redo my whole palette
4Frieze Sculpture 2026Frieze SculptureThe English Gardens, The Regent's Park, London NW1 4NRFree and outdoors so no guilt about wandering off mid-sketch, going back before it closes honestly
