London will happily chew up your circadian rhythm and spit it out somewhere on the Night Tube. These are the eight places I keep ending up when the lecture slides start merging into one giant action potential. High-yield vibes, varying doses of tinnitus, and enough genre diversity to justify calling it ‘well-rounded’ on a med school portfolio form.

La musique s'échappe — 4 items
Name	Type	Address	City	Nearest Tube	My take
1Omeara	Intimate live music venue	6 O’Meara Street, London SE1 1TE	London	London Bridge	Feels like someone built a secret gig under a railway arch just for stressed twenty‑somethings. Small enough that you can actually see faces, big enough that no one notices your off‑beat clapping.
2Rough Trade East	Record shop and gig space	Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL	London	Shoreditch High Street / Liverpool Street	Clinic for vinyl addiction. You pop in for ‘just one look’ and suddenly you’re at an in‑store gig at 7pm holding three albums and wondering if rent is really that important.
3The Lexington	Pub with live music venue	96–98 Pentonville Road, London N1 9JB	London	King’s Cross St Pancras / Angel	Upstairs is sweaty guitars and new bands, downstairs is bourbon and accidental group tutorials on indie subgenres. Ideal for pretending your OSCE doesn’t exist until tomorrow. Or next week.
4Barbican Centre (Hall)	Large arts and concert venue	Barbican Centre, Silk Street, London EC2Y 8DS	London	Barbican / Moorgate / Farringdon	The big multisystem exam of arts venues: orchestras, film scores, random left‑field gigs, all in one brutalist maze. Turn up early, get lost, call it cardio, then sit in the hall and let your cortisol finally drop.
