These are the places that basically own my soul right now – hospitals, labs, parks and the one pharmacy that has 100% seen me in tears. Some of them are actually so good for getting your life together, some are an absolute disaster for your sleep schedule, but all of them are where a Trinity med student inevitably ends up… usually with cold coffee and a half-finished set of Anatomy flashcards.

Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute (TBSI)Teaching and research building152-160 Pearse Street, Trinity College Dublin, Dublin 2, IrelandDublinPreclinical lectures, histology labs, pretending group study is happeningHonestly my second home – the lecture halls are actually so good when you get a seat near a plug, but those endless stairs between classes are an absolute disaster for my quads.
St James's HospitalMajor teaching hospitalJames's Street, Dublin 8, D08 NHY1, IrelandDublinClinical rotations, getting lost between wards, Luas-powered commutesThe vibes are big ‘you are a real doctor now… kind of’. The campus is huge – great pathology in every sense, but the layout when you’re on 3 hours’ sleep is an absolute disaster.
Mater Misericordiae University HospitalTeaching hospitalEccles Street, Dublin 7, D07 R2WY, IrelandDublinMedicine and surgery placements, cardio cases, praying you remember your cranial nervesClinic days here are actually so good for learning – consultants who’ll grill you but in a character-building way – but the trek from Rathmines in the rain is an absolute disaster.
Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI)Medical university and college123 St Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, IrelandDublinAnatomy envy, surgical nerd events, quietly comparing lecture theatresWalking past RCSI between library and Luas is actually so good for the main-character med student fantasy, but also an absolute disaster for my imposter syndrome.
St Stephen's GreenCity centre parkSt Stephen's Green, Dublin 2, D02 N6P5, IrelandDublinPost-exam decompression walks, coffee-fuelled flashcard laps, quick sunlight between wards and libraryTen minutes doing a loop with a takeaway coffee is actually so good for resetting your brain, but trying to quiz cardio phys with seagulls eyeing your lunch is an absolute disaster.
Trinity Centre for Health Sciences, St James'sTeaching and research centreTrinity Centre for Health Sciences, St James's Hospital, James's Street, Dublin 8, D08 W9RT, IrelandDublinClinical lectures, tutorials, skills labs, awkwardly bumping into your consultant in the caféTimetable days based here are actually so good – everything in one spot, teaching plus hospital – but sprinting from a ward round back to a lecture in under five minutes is an absolute disaster waiting to happen.
