My current wine rotation: the bottles I crack after a long match day, when my quads are fried and my brain wants something fun, not fussy. Lots of texture, a bit of funk, everything here loves food and big chat. If you don’t like skin contact and crunchy reds, that sounds like a you problem, fight me.

Tillingham Qvevri WhiteSkin-contact white / orangeEnglish field blendTillingham Wines, East Sussex, EnglandRainy Sunday, big playlist, no plansProper English orange with grip like a good hamstring bridge. Salty, herbal, a bit wild. If you still think English wine is just fizzy novelty, drink this and report back, fight me.
Le Coste Litrozzo RossoLight, chillable redLocal Lazio field blendLe Coste, Lazio, ItalyPasta, loud kitchen, everyone standingOne-litre bottle because 750ml is a warm-up set. Crunchy red fruit, a bit herbal, goes down like squash at half-time. Serve cool and don’t overthink it, fight me.
Gut Oggau AtanasiusMedium-bodied biodynamic redZweigelt and BlaufränkischGut Oggau, Burgenland, AustriaDate night where you actually talkPolished but playful. Dark berries, a little spice, fine tannins like perfectly taped ankles. It’s the bottle I grab when I need a guaranteed crowd-pleaser, fight me.
Partida Creus VN Vinel·lo TintoUltra-light, smashable redLocal Catalan varietiesPartida Creus, Penedès, SpainPark hangs, plastic cups, no glasswareBasically red pét-nat without bubbles. Sour cherry, herbs, so smashable it’s dangerous. Chill it hard and treat it like isotonic for the soul, fight me.
Momento Mori ‘Give up the Ghost’Wild, aromatic white / orangeMixed Italian varietiesMomento Mori, Gippsland, Victoria, AustraliaLate-night deep chats, records onProper weirdo juice in the best way. Floral, spicy, a little cloudy. This is the bottle that turns ‘one glass’ into ‘it’s 2am how’, fight me.
Testalonga El Bandito Skin ContactPunchy skin-contact whiteChenin BlancTestalonga, Swartland, South AfricaSpicy food, loud table, sleeves rolled upGrapefruit pith, apricot, proper tannin. Grips like a good physio thumb in your TFL. Few wines handle chilli this well. Pour it with heat and thank me later, fight me.
