Ian Dempsey and the people of Irish radio and telly

The news that Ian Dempsey turned up on The 2 Johnnies Late Night Lock In this week, spinning yarns about Zig and Zag and interviewing Bruce Springsteen, got me thinking about the voices and faces that got this country through a cup of tea. This isn't a ranking, just the crowd I'd have round for a chat if such a thing were possible. Mostly broadcasters, one or two he's worked alongside, judged the only way that matters: would you turn the radio up for them.
