These are the beers I actually reach for when I stumble out of a Boston gym, legs cooked and box score still open on my phone. Not the whales, not the once-a-year stouts—just the reliable starters and sneaky sixth men that crush thirst, play nice with pizza, and don’t wreck tomorrow’s 9 a.m. meeting (well… usually). If you hoop, hit trivia, or just need something cold while you rehash bad shot selection, this is the rotation I keep coming back to.

1Fort Point Pale AleAmerican pale aleTrillium Brewing CompanyMy plus-minus goes from -12 to at least neutral once this shows up. Soft citrus, light bitterness, and it drinks like the basketball equivalent of a perfect outlet pass—effortless and suddenly everything’s in transition the right way.
2WhirlpoolHazy pale aleNight Shift BrewingThis is the 4.5% beer that plays like it’s dropping 25 a night. Big peachy, citrusy vibes, super crushable, and won’t have you calling for an Uber after two. Ideal for when you’ve already burned all your energy chasing guards off screens.
3Harpoon IPAAmerican IPAHarpoon BreweryBoston classic. Not the flashiest stat line, but it’s the veteran who’s seen every defense. Solid bitterness, a little caramel malt, and it shows up everywhere from dive bars to Bruins games when you just want a no-drama IPA.
