I watch the market open the way I watch first pitch at Fenway: eyes locked, heart rate up, coffee swapped for something hoppy the second the closing bell rings. These are the beers that survive every packie run and every Seaport fridge clean-out — the ones I crush during Sox day games, sneak into backyard wiffle tournaments, and order on autopilot when the bar’s three deep and the Celts are in the fourth. Some are hometown legends, some are hazy hotshots, but every one of ’em has earned a roster spot in my personal beer bullpen.

Harpoon IPAAmerican IPAHarpoon Brewery6.0%Harpoon Beer Hall in the Seaport or any ballpark-adjacent barThe blue-chip of Boston IPAs — not the flashiest in the portfolio, but wicked reliable and always trades well on draft.
You Can’t Beat Boston IPAHazy New England IPAHarpoon Brewery6.0%Harpoon Seaport taproom and around Fenway/TD on game daysPure love letter to the city — this is my go-to when the whole bar’s buzzing and the home team’s actually covering the spread.
Samuel Adams Boston LagerVienna-style lagerBoston Beer Company5.0%Sam Adams Taproom near Faneuil or any old-school neighborhood pubThe OG Boston draft pick — crisp, malty, and perfect when I want something steady instead of another hazy haymaker.
Fort Point Pale AleAmerican pale aleTrillium Brewing Company6.6%Trillium Fort Point or cans from the Seaport on the way homeMy weekday closer — bright citrus, just enough bite, and still light enough that I can read earnings calls after two of ’em.
Congress Street IPANew England IPATrillium Brewing Company7.2%Trillium Fort Point or Canton, plus the occasional city tap list cameoGalaxy hops running a full-on fast break — big fruit, soft finish, and the kind of IPA that makes you forget you promised ‘just one.’
Birds of a FeatherHazy IPALamplighter Brewing Co.6.8%Lamplighter taprooms in Cambridge or cans from a good packieJuicy, dank, and sneaky smooth — this is the one I break out when the crew’s over and we’re going into overtime on the patio.
