The ten beers that actually earn their place after ninety minutes and a dodgy VAR call. No tourist traps, no novelty cans – just the ones that show up week after week around Dublin, from the Docklands to the back streets of D8. Mix of old-school stout, crafty IPAs and one or two that’ll catch you on the break if you’re not watching the ABV. This is the rotation I judge every tap list against.

Guinness DraughtGuinnessIrish dry stoutThe default kickoff. Creamy, steady, never spectacular but almost never has an off day. Pint count can quietly hit double figures before you notice.
Hop House 13 LagerGuinness Brewers ProjectHoppy lagerLager for when you pretend you’re "not really drinking tonight". Clean, a bit of hop bite, goes down like a short corner routine – quick and effective.
Smithwick’s Irish AleSmithwick’s / DiageoIrish red aleThe calm midfielder. Malty, a hint of caramel, zero drama. Perfect when you’ve already shouted yourself hoarse and just want something easy on the palate.
O’Hara’s Irish StoutCarlow Brewing CompanyIrish stoutMore roast, more bite, more attitude than the big G. Like watching a provincial side turn up in the rain and out-muscle a favourite.
Yankee White IPARascals Brewing CompanyWhite IPACitrus, spice, and plenty of zip. Wheat body keeps it smooth while the hops ping it around like a tiki-taka move across the box.
Rollover Session IPAWhiplashSession IPA3.8% but plays like it’s higher. Soft, hazy, loaded with hop flavour. Ideal for watching both the early kick-off and the late one without wrecking tomorrow.
Little Fawn Session IPAThe White Hag Irish Brewing CompanySession IPATextbook modern session: tropical nose, crisp finish, dangerous repeatability. That winger who always has one more sprint in the legs.
Ambush Pale AleTrouble BrewingPale aleProper Irish pale – grapefruit, a bit of pine, just enough bitterness to keep you honest. Great shout when the tap list looks like a spreadsheet of hazy hype.
Scraggy Bay IPAKinnegar BrewingIPAFlagship stuff. Clean malt, bright citrus, firm but measured bitterness. Your reliable number nine: always good for one more.
Of Foam & FuryGalway Bay BreweryDouble IPABig West Coast energy. Resin, tropical fruit, and an 8%-ish punch that feels like a last-minute winner – limbs everywhere, then remember you’ve work in the morning.
