Boston has approximately one million coffee shops per square mile and I have, out of some misguided sense of duty, tried to visit all of them. This is the short list that survived — places I'd actually detour for, including one I was wrong about on my first visit and loudly announced it wasn't worth the hype. It was. I was wrong. Moving on.

2Pavement Coffeehouse	Back Bay	1096 Boylston St, Boston, MA 02215	Boston	This was my 'overrated, it's basically a hallway' place on visit one. Went back on a rainy Tuesday, got a seat, changed my whole opinion.
3George Howell Coffee at The Godfrey Hotel	Downtown Crossing	505 Washington St, Boston, MA 02111	Boston	The pour-over menu reads like a wine list and I respect that level of commitment. Slower than I want on a deadline day, perfect on a slow one.
