Half-time whistle, full-time hunger. This is the list I text mates when they ask where to grab a proper slice before or after a game or a gig in this city. Some are dressed-up sit-down jobs, some are grab-it-and-go on the walk to Piccadilly, but every single one has earned its spot on merit, no cup-tie luck involved. Northern Quarter's basically my second campus at this point.

3Noi Quattro	72 Tib Street, Northern Quarter	Manchester	Diavola	Proper Neapolitan, no gimmicks. Small room, big flavour, like a scrappy non-league side that somehow outplays the big boys.
4Corner Slice	Unit 4, Junction 9 Retail Park, Ashton Old Road	Manchester	Pepperoni Detroit	Thick, square, unapologetic, the Detroit style hits different after a night at a gig. Crust like a solid back four.
5Mean Eyed Cat	42 Newton Street, Northern Quarter	Manchester	Hot Honey Pepperoni	Cocktails and pizza in one spot, handy when the notebook comes out for a gig review after. Late-night saviour.
6Home Sweet Home	22-24 Edge Street, Northern Quarter	Manchester	Buffalo Chicken	American diner vibes, portions built for extra time. Milkshake and pizza combo shouldn't work but it does.
7Slice Pizza Ancoats	1 Cutting Room Square, Ancoats	Manchester	White Pizza	Wood-fired and unfussy, sits right in the middle of Ancoats like a reliable holding midfielder. Never lets you down.
8Fatto a Mano	43-45 Lever Street, Northern Quarter	Manchester	Nduja Sausage	Consistent through and through, the sort of place that turns up every week and delivers. Great for a quick pre-gig bite.
9Ply Wood Fired Pizza	62 Beech Road, Chorlton	Manchester	Spicy Salami	Worth the tram ride out to Chorlton, like an away day that actually pays off. Chatty staff, good crowd.
10Franco Manca Manchester	5-7 St Ann's Square	Manchester	Sourdough Margherita	Sourdough base gives it that extra bit of composure under pressure. Solid choice bang in the city centre.
