These are the spots that basically bookend my days as a Manchester med student – from the 8am lectures that definitely didn’t need to be that early, to the late-night library panics and the clinic placements where it suddenly feels very real. If you’re living off Fallowfield caffeine and Oxford Road bus timetables like me, this is the little circuit of medicine-flavoured places I keep orbiting.

1Manchester Royal Infirmary	Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9WL	Manchester	The big boss of hospital placements – first time I walked through A&E here I suddenly understood why every consultant mainlines coffee. Feels hectic but also weirdly motivating when you’ve just come out of lectures.
2Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital	Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9WL	Manchester	Bright, colourful, and full of tiny patients who somehow cope better than most adults I know. Paeds teaching days here are exhausting in the best way – you leave wiped out but very sure you picked the right degree.
3Manchester Royal Eye Hospital	Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9WL	Manchester	Eye clinic days = learning that eyes are both cooler and more fragile than you thought. Also where I realised ophthalmoscopes are not as easy to use as they made it look in clinical skills.
4Saint Mary’s Hospital, Oxford Road	3 The Boulevard, Oxford Road, Manchester M13 9WL	Manchester	Obstetrics and gynae central – the first time you hear a foetal heartbeat here is… a bit of a core memory. Busy, clinical, but the staff somehow still find time to explain things to terrified students.
5The Docs GP Surgery	55–59 Bloom Street, Manchester M1 3LY	Manchester	City-centre GP that lots of students end up at. General practice teaching days here are basically ‘this is what most of your job will actually look like’ – chronic stuff, life admin, and trying to run on time.
